So What Do You Actually DO in the Maldives?
We are the type of people who don’t like to sit still for too long. Sometimes we worry that we’d get bored on a tropical island, but that definitely wasn’t the case in the Maldives.
Our resort, Kihaa Maldives, made sure we had plenty of options to keep us occupied. Sea kayaking, snorkeling in the reef right off the dock, free diving classes or paid excursions, a sunset cruise, dolphin watching, jet ski rentals, fish feeding every night (which included huge manta rays), and so much more — all reasonably priced, too! We’re already plotting our next trip back because five days there definitely wasn’t enough time to do everything we wanted.
At night, there was always some sort of party or activity. Maldivian drums and singing, movie night on the beach, a bonfire with a DJ. Let’s just say we never had a lack of options even when the sun went down.
There were quite a few families staying on the island, and it seemed like the kids had a bunch of programming especially for them, too. We had the impression that the Maldives would be 100% honeymooners, but it would be a great place to come back to in a few years when we have little ones.
Pro tip: The spa probably had the best view on the entire island. Definitely make it a point to stop in for a service or two (and sip on the iced ginger tea they serve — yum)!
If you love some good, quality relaxation time but you’re also a little adventurous like us, don’t hesitate on taking a secluded beach vacation in the Maldives.
